Riva Star - Desensitising System with Silver Fluoride and Potassium Iodide
Riva Star is an advanced desensitising system designed for clinicians practising minimally invasive dentistry. It uses a simple two-step protocol combining silver fluoride and potassium iodide to condition dentine and support the preservation of tooth structure.
The combined action of silver fluoride and potassium iodide results in the occlusion of microscopic dentinal tubules, forming a low-solubility precipitate that blocks fluid movement responsible for dentinal hypersensitivity. This mechanism provides immediate relief from sensitivity, without causing staining.
Clinically similar to SDF, Riva Star differs by significantly reducing the risk of staining through the application of potassium iodide following silver fluoride. Clinical studies support an immediate desensitising effect that may last up to 2 years after application.
Each pair of capsules (silver and green) can treat up to 5 teeth in a single patient, making the system efficient and cost-effective in clinical practice.
